What you're really paying for
A designer-brand embroidered unstitched suit often retails well above Rs. 10,000. That price includes real things: brand heritage, national campaigns, mall rents, wide catalogs. It also includes things that vanish the moment your tailor cuts the fabric — the packaging, the label, the bag.
A boutique suit skips the brand overhead and puts the money into fabric and thread. The question is whether the fabric and thread actually compare. Here's how to check.
The 4-point verification test
- Reverse-side stitching. Turn the shirt fabric over. Dense, clean stitching on the back of the embroidery means quality digitizing and thread count. Loose loops and jumps mean cost-cutting.
- Coverage. Is the embroidery on the front panel only, or on the back and sleeves too? Our suits are embroidered front, back and sleeves — many brand mid-ranges are front-only. Check before you pay stitching charges for a half-embroidered look.
- Dupatta fabric. Pure chiffon is soft, light, and slightly translucent. Mixed synthetics feel stiff and shiny. This is the single biggest hidden cost-cut in the market.
- Base lawn quality. Crumple a corner in your fist for five seconds. Good lawn springs back with minimal hard creasing.
Where the brand outlet wins
Honestly: catalog breadth, stitched/pret lines, in-mall experience, and gifting prestige — if the recipient will see the bag, the label has value. We can't give you that.
